The 18th Amendment and Prohibition
Prohibition, which banned the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol in our country, went into effect in 1920 with the passage of the 18th Amendment. It was eventually repealed with the 21st Amendment in 1933. In the three accompanying videos, Ken Burns, documentary filmmaker, speaks about Prohibition in America. (5 mins)
